Considered to be one of the most promising Romanian singers of her generation, Rodica Vica’s virtuoso voice is highly acclaimed in her native country as well as abroad. Rodica is equally at ease with the bravura baroque style as well as belcanto and her approach to contemporary music is proof to her artistic versatility. Due to her musical curiosity and passion for professional research, the soprano obtained in 2016 the title of Doctor of Music following her doctoral thesis entitled: Hӓndelian Stylistic Features, Influences and Sources revealed in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Operas.

1.Be special. Because there are not so many singers singing Baroque music, it can make you feel unique, cool and special.

2.Discipline. It disciplines you because the metric does not allow you any freedom or deviation from the rhythm.

3.Imagine. It increases your imagination because the da capo arias require you to improvise new ornaments or embellishments meant to enhance the expressivity of the melodic line. Make sure you don’t copy other people’s ornaments and bring your own personality.

4.Eagerness. It makes you more eager to find out more about the early music style of singing and that’s possible only after researching or asking for advice from more experienced baroque musicians.

5.Explore your emotions. It makes you explore all the facets of your own emotions because you might sing for a long time the same text AND it may also allow you to exercise and express in a plurality of ways the same emotion/feeling. To avoid becoming boring you should always sing it differently. The solution is always inside your soul.
