The plan was for Elena Mosuc to be celebrated, on March 27th, with a gala concert at the Romanian Broadcasting Hall in Bucharest – a concert postponed because of the Covid 19 Pandemic for October 9th and again rescheduled for the fall, next year. I don’t know where the decision to reject -from the start – the compromise came from. Nor from where did she have the admirable strength to reject the seductions of the Star-system developed in the field of lyrical theater. But I know for sure that for Elena Mosuc, the rigor of a career that never deviated from studying, is still the only secret of success. That she became one of the most appreciated performers and a standard of the belcantistic repertoire is, therefore, only a result. As a simple result was Renata Scotto’s statement after seeing her in the opera Lucia di Lammermoor: „Mosuc is the ideal singer for Lucia. Even Donizetti would have liked her vocalism and expressiveness!“ – a natural result, of some artistic data that Mosuc transformed, through the mysterious alchemy of the study, into the excellence of a career developed at the highest level, rewarded over time with prestigious awards: Europaische Forderpreis fur Musik (1993), Bellini d’Oro (1995), Lina Pagliughi: Siola d’Oro prize from Italian Critics Association (2009), OSCAR DELLA LIRICA -Soprano of the year (2019).
