Ernani, at Teatro Regio di Parma

The third title of XX Festival Verdi, beautifully entitles Sparks of Opera, will be Ernani, with Michele Mariotti, who is conducting for the first time this work, on the podium of Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini and the Choir of Teatro Regio di Parma, prepared by Martino Faggiani.

Due to bad weather conditions, the concert form performances of the opera, on September 25th & 27th, will take place in Teatro Regio, whose capacity was recently expanded to 600 total seats, arranged in accordance with government and regional directives on the protection of public health.

The bad news is that, in order to allow the technicians to complete the announced new layout of the Theater Hall in time for the debut (with the placement of flexible polycarbonate screens in the alternate seats that can be occupied in the stalls and between one loge and another and the disassembly and repositioning of the seats in the gallery), the scheduled dress rehearsal on Wednesday, September 23th will not be open to the public.

The cast brings stars of the lyric world on the stage of Regio di Parma: Piero Pretti (Ernani) and Eleonora Buratto (Elvira), both having their role debut and their debut at Festival Verdi, Vladimir Stoyanov (Don Carlo), Roberto Tagliavini (Don Ruy de Silva), Carlotta Vichi (Giovanna), Paolo Antognetti (Don Riccardo), Federico Benetti (Jago). The opera will be performed in the critic edition edited by Claudio Gallico, The University of Chicago Press, Chicago and Casa Ricordi, Milano.

As Teatro Regio di Parma previously announced, the first performance, on September 25th, 8 pm, will be broadcasted live on and on, available until March 25th, 2021.
